Dear Colleagues,
After a few years’ break, we invite you to participate in the 17th SKAM Lithic Workshop, New perspectives in the lithic studies, which will take place in the Archaeological Museum and Krzemionki Reserve (Poland), the famous “Krzemionki Prehistoric Striped Flint Mining Region” on 24-26 of April 2024.
We want to focus on theoretical and practical aspects of lithic materials research during the meeting. The discussion will be related to the methodological aspects, methods of analysis, interpretations, and description of lithic assemblages and results of the recent field research or archival materials studies. The chronological framework of the planned discussion ranges from the Lower Palaeolithic to the Bronze Age.
Particular attention will be paid to the practical part. Hence, after the poster and paper sessions, we are planning the following two sessions:
Lithic material presentation (each of the participants can bring lithic materials to be shown and discussed in the broader group),
Flinknapping meeting (session related to the technological aspects presented during the papers).

The preferred language of the conference is English.
